What really matters under €200
Stick, robot or bagless: three ways to clean
A cordless stick vacuum comes out in seconds and stores upright: it is the tool for daily cleaning and small spaces. A robot vacuum works on its own while you are out, but the floor must be cleared and it does not do stairs. A classic bagless vacuum, plugged in, has no battery limit: it remains the simplest option for a large home or a deep clean. Our ranking mixes all three, because the budget is the same and the right choice depends on your home, not on the type of appliance.
Announced power, to be read with caution
Listings display pascals (Pa, for the suction created), kilopascals (kPa) or watts. These figures are not measured the same way from one brand to another and cannot be compared directly between a stick and a robot. They help compare two models from the same family; for the rest, the number of reviews and the rating say more.
Battery life: the real limit of cordless
On a stick or a robot, the announced battery life corresponds to the gentlest mode. In boost mode, it can be divided by two or three. For a flat, 40 to 50 announced minutes are plenty; for a house, aim higher, or accept recharging along the way.
Mopping and docking station: useful, not essential
Many robots and some "wet and dry" sticks also mop. That is handy on tiles, less useful on wood or carpet. An automatic emptying station saves you from emptying the bin after every run; under €200 it remains rare, which makes the models that offer it all the more interesting.
