The smartphone screen size is the first thing you feel in your hand, and yet one of the least compared. A 6.1″ screen and a 6.9″ screen do not tell the same story: one fits in a pocket and is used with a thumb, the other reads almost like a small tablet. On Picksly’s Smartphones page you can now filter by screen size and lower the maximum price; here is how we classify sizes, what our catalogue shows and how to choose.
The prices quoted were checked on Amazon listings between 20 September 2026 and 21 September 2026; the date appears next to each model. They often move by a few euros from one day to the next: always check the displayed price before buying.
How we classify sizes
The size is the screen diagonal, in inches (1″ = 2.54 cm), as published by a spec sheet: Wikipedia first, then the GSMArena sheet, then, failing that, the seller’s listing. We measure nothing ourselves. Three classes, the same on the site and in the app:
- Normal : under 6.5″
- Medium : 6.5″ to under 6.8″
- Large : 6.8″ and above
The diagonal is used only as a filter: it enters no score. A foldable is classed by the diagonal announced first on its sheet. A model whose size we do not know yet is not guessed: it is left out when you filter, and the number of models concerned is shown.
What our catalogue shows
Figures read on 11 October 2026. Of the 240 smartphones Picksly tracks, 238 have a known diagonal. Here is how they split:
| Class | Diagonals | Tracked models | Median new price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal (under 6.5″) | 5.4″ to 6.46″ | 49 | €609 (31 models with a verified offer) |
| Medium (6.5″ to under 6.8″) | 6.5″ to 6.79″ | 128 | €336 (77 models with a verified offer) |
| Large (6.8″ and above) | 6.8″ to 8.1″ | 61 | €829 (48 models with a verified offer) |
Read it with care: these are the models Picksly tracks, not the whole market, and the median price only covers those with a verified new offer at the time of the check. The largest class is medium (128 models out of 238).
Normal : under 6.5″
Screens under 6.5″ are the easiest to use with one hand and slip into a pocket; in return, there is less surface for reading, watching a video or writing.
Samsung Galaxy S26 — €599
Announced diagonal : 6.3″. Price checked on 21 September 2026. See the listing

Medium : 6.5″ to under 6.8″
The middle class, from 6.5″ to under 6.8″, is a compromise: more surface than a normal screen, without reaching the largest formats.

How to choose
- You mostly use your phone with one hand, or slip it into a small pocket: look at the Normal class.
- You read, watch videos or play a lot: the Medium and Large classes offer more display area.
- You hesitate between two models with close diagonals: the diagonal does not say everything, the width of the body also depends on the bezels and the screen ratio. If you can, try them in a shop before ordering.
- You have a budget: on the Smartphones page, lower the maximum price to see only the models within reach, then compare up to four of them.
FAQ
What is the most common smartphone screen size?
Among the 238 tracked smartphones with a known size, the largest class is “medium” with 128 models. This is an observation on our catalogue, not a market statistic. Figures read on 11 October 2026.
Is the diagonal enough to compare two phones?
No. Two phones with the same diagonal can have bodies of different widths depending on their bezels and the screen ratio. The diagonal is a first approach, not a measure of comfort.
How do I filter smartphones by screen size on Picksly?
On the Smartphones page, choose “Normal”, “Medium” or “Large” (several choices are possible), then lower the maximum price. Models whose size is unknown are counted separately, never guessed.
Where do the sizes and prices come from?
Sizes come from public spec sheets (Wikipedia, GSMArena, failing that the seller’s listing); prices from Amazon listings re-read in a browser on the date shown. Picksly may earn a commission through affiliate links, at no extra cost to you, and this influences neither the sizes nor the ranking. What affiliation can change is explained on our transparency page.
Install the Picksly extension: it recognises the product you are looking at, finds verified alternatives suited to your profile — Budget, Smart or Premium — and tells you when the listing you are on is not the best deal.
