How these scores are calculated

Every score runs from 0 to 100. It is worked out with the same rule since 2026-09, for every model in the category: if we change that rule, we say so and we date it — it never drifts in silence.

Battery: capacity in mAh as published by the maker (GSMArena spec sheet, largest size of the model) — a capacity is not a measured battery life. Features: how many of seven features the GSMArena spec sheet lists (ECG, SpO2, temperature, dual-frequency GPS, barometer or altimeter, NFC, cellular version). Display: peak brightness in nits, only when the spec sheet gives a peak value. Weight: in grams, largest size of the model; the lighter the watch, the better the score.

Not scored: performance (no public ranking measures smartwatch chips), memory, water resistance and iPhone or Android compatibility. Brands missing from GSMArena (Garmin, Amazfit, Fitbit, Polar, Suunto, Coros, Withings, Mobvoi) are listed without a score. A criterion without a dated source stays “not measured”, and an overall score only appears when we have measured at least half of what matters for this category.

Price: best price found among the merchants Picksly can link to, new or refurbished as you choose, dated. It counts in the Budget and Smart scores. Picksly may earn a commission through affiliate links; what this influences is explained on the Transparency page.

How Picksly picks for your profile in a comparison: Budget — among products under £200, new or refurbished, the best Budget score (without a score, the cheapest). Smart — among new products whose Smart score is at least 50, the best; value for money counts in that score. Premium — among new products released within the last 24 months whose Premium score is at least 60, the best. On equal scores, the cheaper one wins. If nothing fits, we say so instead of making up a winner.
