≈: score partly based on a Picksly estimate (no public measurement for one criterion).

How these scores are calculated

Every score runs from 0 to 100. It is worked out with the same rule since 2026-09, for every model in the category: if we change that rule, we say so and we date it — it never drifts in silence.

Performance: result of a recognised speed test (Geekbench 7, all cores), the same scale for Android and iPhone. Otherwise the AnTuTu ranking score, otherwise the AnTuTu score published on the model’s GSMArena page. When no source publishes a measurement, Picksly estimates it (“Picksly estimate”): from phones with the same chip, or failing that from age, price, operating system and RAM. Checked against measured phones, the chip-based estimate lands within ±10 points in 8 cases out of 10; it is always shown as an estimate, and a real measurement replaces it as soon as one exists.

Battery: “Battery” score measured by DXOMARK when it exists, otherwise capacity in mAh as published by the maker (Wikipedia or GSMArena spec sheet) — the source is shown for each model, and a capacity is not a measured battery life. Camera: “Camera” score from the public DXOMARK ranking; the lab changed how it measures along the way: old and new scores are not mixed, each keeps its own scale. Memory: RAM of the configuration tested by AnTuTu, otherwise that of the median version on sale (GSMArena spec sheet). A criterion without a dated source stays “not measured”, and an overall score only appears when we have measured at least half of what matters for this category. Storage, fast charging, brightness and updates: values announced on the model’s GSMArena spec sheet (largest storage option, wired charging power in W, peak brightness in nits, number of major OS versions promised); they count for little in the score (2 to 9 % each), as they are not measurements. Megapixels, display type and 5G are shown but not scored: a megapixel count says nothing about photo quality, and almost every recent model has 5G.

Price: best price found among the merchants Picksly can link to, new or refurbished as you choose, dated. It counts in the Budget and Smart scores. Picksly may earn a commission through affiliate links; what this influences is explained on the Transparency page.

How Picksly picks for your profile in a comparison: Budget — among products under $350, new or refurbished, the best Budget score (without a score, the cheapest). Smart — among new products whose Smart score is at least 50, the best; value for money counts in that score. Premium — among new products released within the last 24 months whose Premium score is at least 60, the best. On equal scores, the cheaper one wins. If nothing fits, we say so instead of making up a winner.
