A product that is missing or dearer on amazon.fr is sometimes available on amazon.es or amazon.it. Ordering from Spain or Italy while living in France is legal and needs no new account, but neither store is shown in French, and a few details โ€” the plug, the keyboard, the return โ€” are discovered too late if you do not check them first. Are amazon.es and amazon.it available in French?

No. We checked the language selector of both sites on 4 October 2026:

  • amazon.es offers Spanish, Portuguese and English; Portuguese and English are presented there as translations.
  • amazon.it offers Italian and English, also presented as a translation.

French appears on neither. Portuguese on amazon.es has a simple reason: there is no Amazon store in Portugal, and amazon.pt redirects to the Spanish site.

Two solutions work, as for Amazon Germany:

  • Switch the site to English from the language selector at the top of the page. The ordering, delivery and return steps become readable without any tool.
  • Let the browser translate the page. It also translates the descriptions written by sellers. Check figures and units on the original version before ordering, though: machine translation can distort them.

Both countries use the euro: prices are shown in euros, with no conversion to watch.

The same account, two more stores

Your usual Amazon credentials work on amazon.es and amazon.it; there is nothing to create. They are still separate stores: their sellers, stock and prices are not those of amazon.fr. An item out of stock in France may be available there, and the reverse happens just as often.

Saved payment methods and addresses do not always carry over from one store to another. Check them before confirming rather than discovering it on the payment screen.

Ordering from France, step by step

  • Sign in with your usual account.
  • Enter your French address before comparing. Some sellers only deliver in their own country: their offers disappear as soon as the address is French. Comparing before that means comparing prices you cannot get.
  • Check who sells and who ships. An item shipped by Amazon usually gives the simplest delivery times and returns; a local third-party seller, much less so. The information appears next to the buy button.
  • Go as far as the payment screen. Shipping costs to France and the free-delivery threshold appear there, and they depend on the seller, not on a single rule.
  • Compare only the total, shipping included, with the French price of the same model.

What really changes compared with buying in France

The electrical plug

Spain uses the same plugs as Germany (types C and F), which usually fit a French socket. Italy is the case to watch: besides those plugs, it also uses type L, three round pins in a row, which does not fit a French socket without an adapter. On an Italian appliance, look at the photo of the plug or the description before buying.

The keyboard

A laptop sold in Spain has a Spanish QWERTY keyboard with the ร‘ key; in Italy, an Italian QWERTY. Neither is AZERTY, and this cannot be changed after purchase without replacing the keyboard. It is the most expensive trap of these two stores.

Manuals and settings

The manual and packaging often come in the country's language. For a small accessory it hardly matters; for a device you set up yourself, check that a French manual exists on the manufacturer's website.

Returns and warranty

The fourteen-day right of withdrawal applies to any distance sale in the European Union, and so does the two-year legal guarantee of conformity. The return, however, goes back to Spain or Italy: check before buying whether a return label is provided. The manufacturer's warranty is often European for major brands, but it is checked on the manufacturer's website, not on the seller's page.

Spain and Italy are in the European Union: the price shown to consumers includes VAT, and nothing is added on delivery.

Spain, Italy or Germany: which one to check?

None is cheaper by principle. The gap depends on the product, the seller, the stock and the moment, and France often turns out cheapest once shipping is added. The detour is mostly worth it for a product that is not sold in France, that is light (shipping weighs little in the total) or whose gap is lasting rather than tied to a one-day deal.
